# Understanding Beer Records
A Beer record contains the core information about a beer (name, style, pricing, etc.) that remains consistent across multiple production batches.
# Types of Beers
There are three types of beer records:
Core Beers
- Year-round offerings
- Always in production/stock
- No specific release dates
Seasonal Beers
- Similar to core beers
- Organizational designation only
- No specific release dates
Releases
- One-off or recurring special releases
- Include scheduled release dates
- Typically involve retail/taproom launches
Note: In dropdown menus, beers are listed in this order: Core beers first, then recent releases, then seasonals.
# Managing Beer Records
# Creating Beer Records
Beer records can be created in two ways:
- Directly in the Beers section
- Automatically when creating a new batch with a new beer name
# Required Information
- Name: Required for all beers
- Pricing: Required only if using Orders module
- Optional fields:
- Style
- Description
- ABV
- IBU
- UPC codes
- Marketing materials (labels, photos)
# Finding Beers
- Navigate to the Beers section
- Use filtered views by beer type:
- All Beers
- Core Beers
- Seasonals
- Releases
- Use the search function to find specific beers
# Linking with Production
# Batches and Beers
- Each batch must be linked to a beer record
- Multiple batches can use the same beer record
- Access the beer record from any linked batch
- Beer records track history across all batches
# Pricing Configuration
- Create Pricing Sets first
- In the Beer record, select the appropriate pricing set
- Orders will automatically use correct prices based on:
- Package format
- Sales channel
- Selected pricing set
# Best Practices
- Create core beer records before scheduling batches
- Keep beer names consistent across batches
- Update pricing sets before creating new beer records
- Use the release type for beers with planned launch dates
- Add marketing materials when available for consistent branding
